Fantasia Valensia: How Our Exclusive Print Came to Life

The Fantasia Valensia is the pattern that has accompanied every one of our collections since 2023: an exclusive design that brings together a jaguar, a phoenix and a paisley background. It wasn't chosen for looks alone. Every element carries a precise meaning, tied to the story of the brand and its founder.

Working with the graphic designer

The project began with a direct conversation with a graphic designer outside our team. We explained what we were looking for: a style that represented Valensia, not simple decoration. Every figure needed a reason to be there, with nothing left to chance. That conversation led to the first pencil sketches, later reworked until reaching the final version of the pattern you find in our collections today.

The work didn't stop at the first sketch. Every line, from the jaguar's spots to the phoenix's feathers, went through several revisions before reaching the vector version we now use on fabric. It's a process that mirrors how we build a garment: you start from a precise idea and refine it until every detail makes sense.

The jaguar: origins and strength

The first figure in the design is the jaguar, portrayed from the chest up with open jaws and a gaze aimed straight at the viewer. It recalls our founder's South American origins and, at the same time, carries a broader meaning: the jaguar has always been a symbol of strength. For us, it represents the character we bring to our work in the showroom, garment after garment.

The phoenix: rebirth after the pandemic

The second figure arrived at a specific moment. Fantasia Valensia was born in 2023, in the aftermath of the pandemic. At that time we were looking for an element that spoke of hope, not just strength. The phoenix, drawn in flight with its wings spread wide and a long spiralling tail, answers exactly that need: it's the symbol of rebirth and resilience, added to represent what we had just been through.

Why two animals together

The jaguar and the phoenix don't compete within the design: they intertwine in the same composition, with the phoenix's tail unfurling alongside the feline figure. One speaks of identity and roots, the other of starting over. Together, they tell a journey, not just an origin — which is why neither element would have worked alone.

The name Fantasia Valensia

We named the pattern Fantasia Valensia, with no adjectives or descriptive references. We wanted the name to stay tied only to the brand, making it recognisable regardless of the material or garment it appears on: a cotton shirt and a silk one carry the same design, under the same name.

The paisley background, Valensia's stylistic signature

The paisley background is a stylistic choice made by Valensia's founder. It doesn't come from a technical constraint but from a precise preference: paisley is a motif with a long history in textiles, and we chose it to give the design a recognisable frame, able to support the jaguar and phoenix without overpowering them.

From blank page to collections

Since it was completed in 2023, the design has accompanied every collection made by Valensia. You'll find it first on cotton, then on a linen blend, and more recently on silk, in our Fantasia Valensia beige silk shirt. The move from one material to another follows the same method we describe in how a Valensia garment is made: first the technical drawing, then the fabric test, finally production.

What we want it to say

We don't want Fantasia Valensia to stay just a graphic detail. Anyone wearing a garment with this pattern carries a precise message: strength in one's own roots, the ability to start again. It's why, garment after garment, we keep working on it.
